The International Poker Rules have been updated and Dusk Till Dawn and partypoker LIVE are amongst the first partners with a new International Poker Rules licence. It means the first event featuring the new and improved rules is one of the biggest tournaments in the world – Millions Grand Final Barcelona. After this, all partypoker LIVE events will be played with International Poker Rules.
By The Players, For The Players
The renewed version has been created by The International Poker Federation (FIDPA) in collaboration with many players and tournament experts who had one shared mission in mind – to create a standard set of poker rules for the whole poker industry.
It started with a collaboration between world-famous casinos, the Bellagio and Dusk Till Dawn. But word soon spread and casinos around the world joined in. Big names in poker such as Phil Ivey, Phil Hellmuth, Sam Trickett, John Duthie and Mel Judah began expressing their support to the International Poker Rules. And the rest, as they say, is history.
The new rules are ready for the future and ready to serve the global poker community.
Renowned Dutch poker player and Partypoker Pro Marcel Luske says:
“After some interesting poker years, we updated the International Poker Rules and gave them a huge makeover. We are ready for a future with more fairness, button antes and shot clocks.
“DTD owner, Rob Yong and general poker rules expert Simon Trumper, have been crucial in the support of the International Poker Rules from the start. They have been the initiator to keep using the International Poker Rules for many years and helped with the latest modifications.”
Always a passionate player, Marcel Luske thinks about his fellow players too
Shot Clock and Button Ante
Probably the most significant updates to the rules centre around the Shot Clock and the Button Ante, which is generally preferred by players over a big blind ante. The aim is to help make poker games as fair and smooth-running as possible, no matter where you play around the world.
New and Improved Website
It’s now even easier for poker players and organisers to consult with and make quick checks on the International Poker Rules. Often discussions about poker rules take place at the table between the tournament staff and the players. With the support of this new, more user-friendly website, tournament staff now have the opportunity to show players the rules instantly, helping to build credibility and trust on both sides.
