In the run-up to the starting days, players of all bankrolls had the opportunity to secure their €225 ticket in one of the numerous online satellites starting at only $ 0.50. In addition, the Concord Group hosted cheap live satellites in all participating casinos in Austria.

Already before the official start of the Grand Prix Austria, the first of two Online Day 1s took place on March 5, which was met with great interest and 203 entries. Of course, the Online Day 1s were played with 100,000 chips as well with blinds starting at 500/1000, Ante 50. The levels lasted 10 minutes, while late reg was possible during the first eight levels.

The first live weekend started on March 9th at CCCs Bregenz and Salzburg. 100,000 chips, 20-minute levels, re-entry option – these are the conditions for the live starting days. While 22 levels were played online, the live starting days are completed when 10% of the entries are reached. Any player who makes it to Day 2 wins € 500 in prize money, players who qualify twice will receive a €1,000 bonus for their smaller stack.

59 participants and 11 re-entries joined the game in Bregenz, while 30 participants and 7 re-entries joined in Salzburg. But none of them managed to outdo the massive 3,055,000 chip lead of Klaus Görtz, which he won in the first Online Day 1. The best result of the day was achieved by Driton Shala in Bregenz, who took home 1,705,000 chips. By that time, 32 players had managed to reach Day 2 and secured €500 each.

The first flight in Montesino attracted 174 participants, and 26 re-entries. Zbigniew Jaszczak achieved the day's victory just ahead of Alin Norbert Tontya (2,570,000 to 2,525,000 chips). However, neither of them got close to Klaus Görtz, who had collected 3,055,000 online. At the end of the second live day, 69 players qualified for Day 2.

The second online starting day on March 12th saw the number of entries rise to 211 and two players managed to score double qualifications. Michael Nikowitz and Daniel Gaderbauer secured €1,000 for their smaller stacks and a min-cash of €500 for their larger.

On March 14, another starting day was scheduled at Montesino Vienna. 156 participants and 31 re-entries were recorded in the € 225 No Limit Hold'em tournament, the pot increased to € 217,800. Adrian Pop scored the day's victory with 2,310,000 chips, placing him fourth in the overall ranking. The number of qualifiers for Day 2 rose to 113.

Two more flights were played on March 15 at CCC Wien-Simmering and Montesino. Marian Uhazcek was able to secure the day's victory with a chip count of 2,510,000, pushing Adrian Pop from the 4th place. In CCC Wien-Simmering 60 participants and ten re-entries joined the game. In total, there were 1,414 entries until Thursday evening, which equated to €282,800 in the pot and 148 qualifiers for Day 2.

The penultimate start day, March 16th, attracted a crowd of 301 participants and 60 re-entries at Montesino Wien. In the evening, another 79 players (12 re-entries) tried their luck in the Turbo Flight, while 82 participants and nine re-entries played at CCC Simmering. At the international starting days in Zilina, Slovakia and Nova Gorica, Slovenia 29 and 26 players respectively joined the game. That brought the number of entries up to 2,012 with € 402,400 in the pot, with 202 qualifiers for Day 2. In addition, Szabolcs Solymosi eliminated two players on the bubble and took away 3,330,000 chips, making him the new chip leader in front of Klaus Görtz. Michael Knöbel was the third player to qualify for the second time, securing a € 1,000 bonus for his smaller stack.

Today, the last regular Day 1 takes place at Montesino at 15:00 and at CCC Vienna-Simmering at 17:00, before the players get a very last chance to qualify for tomorrow's Day 2 at 19:00 in a Turbo Flight at Montesino (15 minute levels) and at 21:00 in a Hyper Turbo Heat (10 minute levels) at CCC Wien-Simmering.
