MILLIONS North America will knock your socks off. Twelve days, six tournaments, millions of Canadian dollars on the line. All played out against the backdrop of the magnificent Playground Poker Club, one of the finest poker institutions on the North American continent. It’s going to be, as they like to say in Quebec, c’est magnifique.

We’re expecting some of the biggest names in the game to roll up to play in Montreal. After the North American invasion of the MILLIONS Grand Final Barcelona last week, which included Canadian Pascal Lefrancois squirreling away the Main Event title for €1.7M, will MILLIONS North America be the event where the Europeans turn the tables on their Canadian hosts and the American superstars?

Many of the biggest dogs in American and Canadian poker are expected to be at the Playground Poker Club, including Team partypoker's Chairman Mike Sexton and big names on the roster in Kristen Bicknell, Jason Koon and Isaac Haxton. Making the hop across the pond to challenge the North Americans will be the crème de la crème of European poker and seeing which continent emerges as top dogs will be one of the great narratives to follow of the festival.

The Main Event will be the flagship tournament of the twelve-day extravaganza, with the CA$5,300 buy-in event boasting an incredible CA$10M guarantee and shuffling up and dealing on Day 1A on Tuesday April 24th. Day 1B will be on Wednesday 25th, with Day 1C on Thursday 26th and the fourth opening flight, the unsurprisingly named Day 1D, on Friday April 27th.

The last chance to get involved in the Main Event fun will be on Day 1E, which will also kick off on Friday April 27th, only this time it will start at 20:00 in the evening with 40-minute levels. Every Day 1 except Day 1E will have hour-long levels, with eight levels being played each day. There will be one re-entry allowed each day, and, as players can enter as many opening flights as they like, there will be no shortage of chances to book their ticket to Day 2.

Those who take a stack through to the promised land of Day 2 will have two choices of when to play, on either Saturday 28th or Sunday 29th April. It’s not normal outside the WSOP to have Day 2 split into two flights, which shows the high level of prestige and the sheer number of players that the MILLIONS North America Main Event is expecting. The late registration window will also slam shut four levels into Day 2, meaning that those players who want one last chance at Main Event glory can buy in with just sixteen big blinds. From there, you’re only a couple of doubles from being back above average anyway, right?

The hallowed ground of Day 3 will be the reward for those pushing through the nine levels of play on Day 2, and the money should be reached early that day on Monday 30th April. Survive that, and you really will be getting close to poker immortality and in with a sniff of the minimum of a million up top. The penultimate day of action- known in many quarters as Day 4- will run on Tuesday 1st May as the tournament plays down to a Final Table.

Eight brave poker heroes will come back on Wednesday 2nd May for Day 5 to play down to the MILLIONS North America Main Event Champion. With one of the most prestigious titles in poker up for grabs, as well as the small matter of millions of Canadian Dollars to play for, it should be a spectacular conclusion to one of the finest events on the partypoker LIVE tour.

Who will join the list of poker legends who have taken down a MILLIONS Main Event? The eventual Main Event champion will join a prestigious and very exclusive club of players who have captured a MILLIONS Main Event title. That club currently includes the recently anointed Pascal Lefrancois, Maria Lampropulos, Aleksandr Gofman, Sam Greenwood, Jon Van Fleet, and, perhaps most memorably of all, Viktor ‘Isildur1’ Blom. With poker history beckoning, who will be answering its call? We don’t know, but the next thirteen days are sure to be very exciting as we find out.

MILLIONS North America isn’t just about the CA$10M guaranteed Main Event, however. In addition to the big one, there will be a further CA$5M in guarantees across five titanic side events, each with at least CA$1M guaranteed. The CA$1,100 buy-in three-day Open will kick off the festival on Saturday April 21st, concluding on the 24th.

Other tasty tournaments in prospect include the CA$10,300 High Roller, taking place on the 21st and 22nd before the Main Event, which has the standard CA$1M guarantee and will no doubt be attracting some of the big names at the festival. The CA$10,300 three-day Finale and the two-day CA$1,100 Turbo will both help bring down the curtain on MILLIONS North America, starting on Monday 30th April and finishing on the final Wednesday as the Main Event also reaches its conclusion.

MILLIONS events are known for their Super High Rollers, tournaments that bring together the very best and the very wealthiest in the game in spectacular clashes for astronomical sums of cash. They provide an absolute treat for poker fans all over the world to follow, and MILLIONS North America will be no different. The MILLIONS North America Super High Roller will have a CA$25,300 buy-in, and will feature a two-day structure, with Day 1 on Monday 23rd and Day 2 the following day. All the fantastic poker action will be taking place at the iconic Playground Poker Club in Montreal, which was established in 2010 and is recognized by poker players all over North America as Canada's Premier Poker Destination. Playground has established itself as a poker club built for players, by players and is committed to operating a fun and safe gaming environment for players of all abilities and bankrolls.

There are quite a few ways in which you can follow all of the action from Montreal. The first is with the My partypoker LIVE website and app, which will have extensive live coverage from all six cracking events. The updates will include chip counts and end of day recaps. We’ll also be keeping you posted of the goings on at the Playground Poker Club with pictures, videos and updates on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.

Mike Sexton, partypoker Chairman and member of the Poker Hall of Fame, needs no introduction. The man is a legend, and exudes warmth, friendliness and star dust in any card room he enters. Sexton also has form at the Playground Poker Club, having won his WPT Main Event title there for CA$425,980. Mike recently spoke to My partypoker LIVE about why he loves coming to the Playground Poker Club so much among many other topics, which you can read in full here

Sexton said: “You always have a special fondness for places you’ve won. As poker players, you automatically want to go back to where you did well. Montreal now has that feeling for me. If you already have good memories, then it’s a lot of fun.

“I love playing poker there because I believe that the Playground Poker Cub is the most well-run poker room in the world. I’ve never seen one run better. They’re the most professional dealers of anywhere in the world, bar none. They don’t make many mistakes. They’re very, very well trained before they get in the box.”

The MILLIONS tour had a hugely successful first season, with MILLIONS UK, MILLIONS Russia, the Caribbean Poker Party, MILLIONS Germany, and the recent MILLIONS Grand Final Barcelona all providing drama, intrigue and jaw-dropping guaranteed prize pools. Champion Pascal Lefrancois was gracious in victory, remarking: "It has been an exhausting four days, but I’ve loved every minute. You see these events and you just don't think you can win. It’s the perfect way to head back to Canada for my home country event, MILLIONS North America, where I’ll be trying for a back-to-back win!”

Here's his full winner's interview:

It's only just the beginning. partypoker LIVE is aiming to make MILLIONS Season Two even bigger and better, with particular highlights to look forward to in the form of the new MILLIONS World tournament at the Caribbean Poker Party, which is a $25K Super High Roller with an unbelievable $10M guarantee, plus MILLIONS Online, which will have a ridiculous $20M guarantee.

partypoker LIVE President, John Duthie, is already looking ahead: “Being in Barcelona and sharing the experience with so many players really made me see that we've come a long way in Season 1 and I'm so excited about what we will be providing in Season 2. We started on the premise that we want to provide tournaments for the players, and provide value for the players, in really good venues, and we’re achieving it. Casino Barcelona and Hotel Arts were perfect hosts for our closing event and the line-up for Season 2 is only going to be bigger and better.”
