Four events, millions of dollars on the line and a location that makes that 'stunning' holiday destination you've been saving up to visit look like a weekend in Bognor Regis in November. It can only be the 2018 Triton Super High Roller Series Montenegro which took place this past week at the stunning Maestral Resort & Casino in Montenegro.
The final event was expected to be big. Instead, it was huge. Dwarfing the prize-pool of the festival's own Main Event, the final event of the HKD1,000,000 ($127,000) Short Deck Ante-Only Event had 103 player entries and crowned its winner in Jason Koon after an epic heads-up battle with Short Deck expert Xuan Tan.
It was the biggest event in the history of the TSHRS and crowned a stunned Koon, giving him the biggest score of his career, an incredible $3,579,000 payday. Exhausted after the event, he still found time to give this interview to Pokernews, who were there to see him claim yet another live title to bring his live tournament winnings to $16,587,793.
The final day took 14 hours to complete, with luminaries such as Phil Ivey (3rd for $1,666,516) and Peter Jetten (6th for $641,918) reaching the final table of six players. By winning the final day shoot-out against a player he credits as being way more experienced at the game variant than him, Koon closed out his biggest ever poker result. Tan conquered, the victory completed a remarkable week for the American at the felt.
While in Budva, Montenegro, Koon also found time to take part in what turned out to be the biggest single live cash game pot in memory. Check it out to see which way it went:

It was Jason Koon who was the biggest winner at both cash and tournament table, however, and the superstar adds to his already solid gold reputation. The Team partypoker player will shortly be heading towards Las Vegas with the WSOP on the horizon. We wouldn't put it past him to add some rather valuable bracelets to his extensive collection of trophies when the Nevada dust settles.
