The EAPT Snowfest Battle took place on partypoker from 20th - 21st January. The field was 16 players strong, with a HU tournament format, with 12 well known professional poker players, two sports commentators and two qualifiers. The whole experience was live on Twitch, with commentary by partypoker media ambassador, Mikhail Semin ("Mikleler"), with cards up coverage. You can watch it anytime on demand on Twitch.

Some of the players who participated in the tournament have had great results around the world. Andrey Zaichenko is a WSOP winner, Andrey Pateychuk conquered Main Events in both EPT and WPT tours, partypoker pro Anatoly Filatov has amassed over $4,000,000 in earnings, multiple WSOP finalist Sergey “Gipsy” Rybachenko and many others.

However, the best part was that anybody had a chance to join them, two players won their seats though partypoker promotions and both were thrilled to play this tournament. We received great feedback on giving everybody a chance to be part of the 'Battle', and next time we definitely will bring this part back, so anyone can earn themselves a seat at the table!

But it is not just fame, glory and love of the audience that was on stake in EAPT Snowfest Battle. There were four amazing prizes:

1st – EAPT Snowfest package which include $1,180 Main Event seat and 6 nights in the Marriot Hotel.

2nd – EAPT Snowfest $1,180 Main Event seat.

3rd - $530 ticket for Final satellite MILLIONS Germany

4th - $215 ticket for Final satellite EAPT Snowfest

The highlight of the competition was Pavel Zanozin, whose day to day job is a sport commentator on the Russian Channel One. Pavel defeated Andrey Pateychuk in his first match. Andrey, who has more than $6,000,000 earnings online and live, didn’t expect to get such a fight from Zanozin.

Pavel played his 'A game' on the second day of the competition. Firstly, by beating partypoker pro Anatoly Filatov in thei heads-up battle. Pavel showed his spirit in the first hand and put in 5-bet with . Filatov wasn’t ready for such an aggressive start and folded pocket tens. In the semi-final, Zanozin was victorious against the top Belorussian player, Kiryl Radzivonau (almost $2M live earnings). Kiryl later won third place match against Vitaly Volov.

After the tournament Zanozin admitted that it was a very hard match: “The semi-final was incredibly tough, there were points I started to think that I probably won’t have a chance in the final, but I got lucky in some situations. Later, I rewatched my matches with pro commentaries and It was really fun. I am not new to poker, I have played for almost 13 years. I never did it professionally, poker is just something I am enjoying doing occasionally, especially if it is a live game, where you can communicate with people”.

In the final of EAPT Snowfest Battle, Zanozin faced veteran of Russian poker – Sergey Rybachenko. The highlight of the match was Sergey’s bluff. In the early stage of the match Sergey called 3-bet with 6-8. Then he raised Pavel’s bet on A-3-4 flop. Zanozin called and lead on the blank turn, but Sergey raised again, essentially having just 8-high and no draws. Pavel couldn’t handle it and folded his pocket queens.

Pavel had some thoughts about this hand: “I leaded the turn, trying to see where I am, but never thought he could go that far with his bluff. It was phenomenal play from Sergey. But I really couldn't call again”.

In the end Zanozin came short in the final but showed an amazing performance and won an EAPT Snowfest Main Event seat. World Cup 2018 in Russia will be another big event for him, both personally and professionally. Pavel is a World Cup ambassador for Nizhny Novgorod, where he was born. “World Cup is the most important event of my life. This is something that has never happened before in Russia and will probably never happen again. It is going to be a truly wonderful month for everybody in the country”.
