A Definitive Ranking Of Every Month This Year

It’s a debate that has kept people up at night for decades. Arguments have raged (they haven’t) for years. Everyone (no-one) is talking about it. Forget Brexit, forget whether mankind is alone in the universe, forget whether or not there’s a God. This is the big one. The only question that truly matters. We are, of course, talking about what the best month is.

Don’t worry, though, we at partypoker LIVE are going to settle the matter for you once and for all. This is the definitive ranking of the months, from worst to best. You're welcome.

12) February

What’s the point? It’s cold, Christmas is long in the rearview mirror, New Year’s Resolutions are usually up in smoke. February is a time spent simply waiting for Winter to end. And don’t get me started on Valentine’s Day. A load of rubbish. This year, at least MILLIONS Germany brightened this darkest of months.

11) January

Wet, cold and generally miserable, January just sneaks ahead of February by virtue of the novelty of it being a new year. Christmas is gone, everyone’s back to work, summer still seems an age away. There wasn’t a single partypoker LIVE tournament in January, which just sums up the misery.

10) September

September is forever ingrained in our collective psyche as the ‘back to school’ month. As a child, September was cruel, cutting short luxurious six-week summers with the cold reality of a new school year. Even in adulthood, September is just a bit underwhelming. Not quite properly Autumn, and with summer fading fast, September is just a month where everything just seems grimmer than it did before. Still better than January and February though. Last year, MILLIONS Russia did at least put a smile on poker player’s faces.

9) March

A bit of a ‘meh’ month. It’s not that bad, there’s just not a lot to get excited about. Even the weather is usually bland. The Irish Open - probably the most fun tournament to play in all of poker - does make it a little bit special for poker players, however.

8) October

It’s got Halloween, you can be warm and cosy by the fire as the nights start drawing in, and you can wear your favourite jumper. Yes, October’s a pretty decent month, especially if you like pumpkins and big piles of red, orange and yellow leaves on the ground. MILLIONS UK is also in October this year if you fancy nipping down to DTD to win a million.

7) April

April is a time of hope, a time of possibility. A time to win big at MILLIONS Grand Final Barcelona. It's a month where flowers began to bloom, temperatures start to warm and everyone's happy that winter is over. A time to eat an unhealthy quantity of Easter Eggs. It’s no longer dark when you get home from work. The main reason it’s not higher on the list is because normally it rains. A lot. They’re not called April Showers for nothing. One day it’s stunning sunshine, the next there’s flash flooding. Make up your mind, April.

6) August

While it can be a tad sweaty, a little uncomfortable, August is still Summer. That still means barbecues, beach trips, and lazy summer days lounging about. It’s not higher because even though it is, like we said, still Summer, there’s an annoying little voice somewhere in your head telling you that it's the last month of summer, that it’s almost over, and asking why didn’t you do all the things you had planned? Also, you’re probably sunburnt.

5) November

Whisper it, but Christmas is coming. You won't forget, due to the stupidly early Christmas decorations in shops and the endless adverts. There’s also Bonfire Night, an excellent excuse for a drinking heavily while watching people burn stuff and set off fireworks. The weather’s chilly, but in a nice, crisp way that you don’t mind. As you’re reading this, I’ll assume you’re a fan of the partypoker LIVE tour, so I’ll just say three words: Caribbean. Poker. Party. See you there!

4) May

May is a month of anticipation. Summer is so close you can almost taste it, and the evenings seem gloriously long. It’s the only month that properly feels like Spring. There’s also a bank holiday, and everyone seems a bit more cheerful. It’s a nearly but not quite type of month. Weather can catch you out though.

3) July

The height of summer. Need we say more? July is beach trips, July is holidays, July is an ice cold beer on a boiling hot day. July is PIMMS. Basically, it’s one big party. This year, there’s England’s inevitable last sixteen World Cup exit to Colombia on penalties to look forward to, so there’s that. You've had some summer before, you've got some coming after. It's a safe Summer space. I know some people don’t like summer, but just get yourselves a portable fan and try and ignore the wasps, people. July is good.

2) December

Granted, the weather is terrible, and it rarely snows when you want it to. Sure, the travel is annoying, and New Year’s Eve is normally a let down. But still. Christmas! Food, presents, family, cosy nights watching terrible festive movies, and did we mention the food? There’s normally a few days off from work to look forward to as well. Also, MILLIONS Online has a ridiculous $20M guarantee. Yep, December’s a great month. There’s only one that can beat it.

1) June

Does June have any downsides? The weather is gorgeous, the whole summer stretches out ahead of you with glorious, endless possibilities, everyone seems a lot happier. This year, there’s the excitement of the World Cup to look forward to, and serious poker players will be indulging once again in WSOP heaven over in Las Vegas. Barbecues, long evenings, great weather, no worries; June has got it all.
